Exploding targets are quite the rage theses days. Costing between $6 and $9 you mix up the chemicals then shoot the one pound container at 100 yards. When you hit it with a rifle shot it goes off with a loud boom and a cloud of smoke. Of course there is always the question of “what will happen if we shoot four containers (or more)?” You get a louder boom and a bigger cloud of smoke! Therein lays the problem. We received a complaint the other day about exploding targets. Complaints from neighbors are rare. Someone set off an explosion that rattled plates over 400 yards away. Nonsense like this could get the club closed done. In addition, glass bottles are not targets. Think about it, who wants broken glass lying in their grass at their home, along with shotgun shells, brass casings, plastic bottles, and paper trash. The actions of a few affecting over 400+ people.
As always, Treat every firearm as if it is loaded, Never point your firearm at anything you don’t want to destroy, Don’t put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot, Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
